What you won't do, do for love.

It's been a while. I'm coming to you on a very damp Sunday night in Oxford. This weather has made me want to crawl up in bed and listen to music all afternoon, instead of read like I should. However I'm pushing through, a cup of tea is ready to go and I'll get back to it after I've taken a break to finally update this blog.

So with the wind and rain comes much cooler temperatures for the approaching week. I am definitely an autumn dresser and I have been looking at and purchasing Fall trends since early August now. I'm very much ready to finally get around to wearing a lot of my wardrobe which has remained locked away as it was not appropriate for the extremely hot weather we were having when I first arrived here.

I purchased this pleather two tone top at J.C. Penney this afternoon. I usually stay clear of that shop but myself and colleague were taking a few visiting professors for lunch and they wanted to do a bit of shopping off of the Square and unfortunately as Oxford has very limited choice we ended up at J.C. Penney's! Anyway, maybe I was wrong about it as I ended up purchasing this top and it was only $20. I decided to try it on and I'm pretty pleased with it.

Leather, or it's much more affordable fake friend, pleather, seems to be everywhere this fall. I definitely do not have the legs to pull of some skinny pleather pants or an A-line mini skirt so I thought the sleeve detail on this top would work well. I really like the contrast against the off-white central panel. I decided to team it with my favourite boyfriend fit ripped French Connection jeans, the new camouflage jacket which I talked about buying around two months a go (it's the best!), my peep toe black wedges and a simple chain necklace.

I would finish this outfit off with a layer of deep plum lipstick. I'm absolutely obsessed with lipsticks in the current Fall hues, from vibrant berries to vampy purples, lipsticks are the affordable way to bring your closest into the next season. As always, I turn to my homegirl Lizzie Olsen for a reference point on how to pull off the perfect plum lip. This is from Elizabeth's shoot for an interview she did with the Guardian. I absolutely love the light bronze colour on her eyes and her slightly darker hair works so well for the autumn.

However, I have been feeling like I need to branch out from Lizzie and so have turned my obsession to South London born and bred musician Jessie Ware. I cannot stop listening to her album 'Devotion' and she is so beautiful, definitely someone I will be turning to for fashion inspiration this season. Check out her cover of Bobby Caldwell's 'What You Won't Do For Love', too good.
